I am certified by the Kentucky's Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development, Cabinet for Families and Children as a Level 5 Trainer. I have been in education for 27 years, currently teaching first grade for McCreary County School District. I have taught Preschool through eighth grade in home based, school based, and Special Education Resource classrooms. I hold a Kentucky Elementary Teaching Certificate K-8, Masters of Arts Degree in Special Education, Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education (IECE) endorsement, and have been certified to work with children with visual, hearing, and physical impairments. After eleven years, in order to pursue professional development writing, in September 2010, I closed my private business Pine Knot Academy for Children, a licensed child care facility for 64 children that had maintained a three star rating from the Governor’s Office since the pilot program in 2002. I listen to concerns of parents, educators, and administrators as well as my colleagues and staff, then pinpoint how to seek answers. Points PonderedBold text is a collection of researched based topics I have written about to share with the child care providers, educators, and others with an interest in child development. Topics have came about after I dealt with a situation, observed repeated patterns, or listened to educators discuss concerns. I then used many tools to look for the answers of the things I pondered on. Some theories took years to write about, others came from experience as much as readings.
