My courses aims to show courses and programs in the most self-explanatory way to users and allow smooth navigation between them. The overall workflow to access courses and programs is shown in the following diagram:
The My courses page shows both programs and courses.
When users access a program for the first time, they see the Program cover page containing Program information. The cover page is not displayed again for this program once the user proceeds to the Program page containing any program sets and courses.
When users access a course for the first time, they see the Course cover containing Course information. This behaviour applies to courses from the My courses page and the program page. The cover page is not displayed again for this course if the user proceeds to the actual Course page; however, its content is available via the course's Information tab.
My courses page
The My courses page is a complete redesign in comparison to the LMS version containing the following elements:
In the My courses Header, there are two actions in the 3-dots menu: New course and Manage courses (if capabilities have been granted). This is identical to the LMS version. The Filter & search area contains three options that can be combined for more flexible searches:
- Visibility: All, Courses, Programs, Not completed, Completed
- Order: Sort by last accessed (default), Sort by conclusion date, Sort by date
- Search: The search covers courses and programs
The Content area comprises horizontal cards that display information about courses and programs, such as due date or completion status.
The Program card has the following properties:
When you click anywhere on the program card, you will be directed to the Program cover page (first time) or the Program page (on every subsequent visit).
The Course card has the following properties:
When you click anywhere on the course card, you will be directed to the Course cover (first time) or the Course page (on every subsequent visit). The course category is only shown if the Show course category in course cards setting in My programs and courses catalogue settings is ticked.
Program cover page
The Program cover page appears as long as the program has not been accessed. The page can also be viewed via the Information tab on the Program page.
The program cover page comprises the following areas:
- The Header displays the program image and program title.
- The Help box provides a brief explanation of what programs are. Once the Don't show this again button has been clicked, the box won't appear on any program cover pages.
- In the About section, the program description is displayed. If specified, program tags and program custom fields are shown.
- The Dates section displays the program's Start date, Due date, and End date. Depending on the Show days left until the program is due setting, a reminder badge is shown next to the Due date.
- The Certifications section only appears if the program is associated with a certification, and the certification's status is shown.
- The last section displays the Program structure, which allows users to browse through the program content before proceeding to the program page.
As soon as a user proceeds to the program content (via the button at the bottom), this screen won't be shown again. However, the same content can be viewed via the Information tab on the Program page.
Program page
The Program page shows the program content and all related information (dates, certifications, etc.).
The program page comprises the following areas:
- The Header contains the program title, which is displayed underneath the breadcrumb navigation.
- If the program is part of a certification, it will display a dismissable Alert. By clicking on 'I understand', that specific alert won't be shown again for that user.
- Within the Sub-menu, users can toggle between this Program (this page) and Information (same as Program cover page)
- The Recently accessed courses block shows up to three courses from the current program.
- The To Do section displays the completion criteria in which order the user must complete the program components.
- The Program content area shows all program courses and sets. Available courses can be accessed directly; restricted elements are marked accordingly. When a user clicks on a program set, a sub-page will open with the same structure as the program page.
Course cover
The Course cover appears as long as the course has not been accessed; its content can also be viewed via the Information tab on the course page.
The course cover is displayed if any of the following criteria are matched:
- The user is enrolled in this course but has never accessed it
- The user is not enrolled in the course: they can see the information on this page regardless of their enrollment status.
- If the course is part of a program the user is allocated to, they will be informed about what to do to “unlock” this course.
- If the user can self-enrol in the course, the enrollment options will be shown on this page in the Actions section.
- If the user can't self-enrol in the course, they will be informed about that in the “Buttons” section.
The course cover comprises the following areas:
- The Header displays the course image and course title.
- In the About section, the course description is displayed.
- The Dates section displays the course's Start date and End date.
- In the Trainers section, all users in the course with the Trainer role will be listed.
- The Course files section shows any images uploaded via the Course image setting in the course settings. Other file types - if supported - are shown underneath.
