Moodle 2.0, our biggest release ever - two and a half years of work by hundreds of people - is now available!  It contains a huge number of core changes to the platform, most of which are designed to give 3rd party developers more flexibility, scalability and safety.

New minimum requirement: PHP 5.3
 
In Moodle 2.1 the core development teams will focus on improving core interfaces for users, tackling one or two of the following tasks at a time.
 
* Restore 1.9 backups directly
* Rewriting of the grading interfaces for modules, hopefully including rubrics
* Assignment rewrite, combining types into an all-in-one simple module using the new grading interfaces

* Extending web services API for use by mobile apps
* Improved file handling in the HTML editor and elsewhere
