Gmail SMTP does not work anymore for Moodle

I found that my Moodle test server does not sent emails anymore since June 2022.

Moodle 2.3 Tested

Today 1st Aug 2012 I have tested tested setting secure SMTP with Gmail and it works perfectly without an issue. I have made changes to the Wiki to outline what needs to be done. --Kyle Goslin

Edit for Amazon SES instructions?

I can adapt these to work with amazon SES can I create a new page or edit this article to be more generally about hosted email solutions?

This page is outdated

Gmail won't allow normal username / passwords to be used for the SMTP authentication.

An "App password" must be used instead: https://support.google.com/mail/answer/185833?hl=en
