No Email

From MoodleDocs

Problem: You want people who do not have email to be able to create accounts on your site. You do not want to go to the no authentication option, the manual accounts only option, etc.

"Linked Email Accounts"

If you wish to collect all the emails for the Moodle users in one email account, many providers support "plus addressing" as a mail alias. Please check with the mail provider's usage policies for any limitations on these settings.

In Google Mail (Gmail), a teacher (or site administrator) can use one email address. For example:

  • moodleteacher123@gmail.com

Then the student accounts can be made by adding a "+" at the end of the mail account name. For example:

  • moodleteacher123+student01@gmail.com
  • moodleteacher123+student02@gmail.com
  • moodleteacher123+student03@gmail.com
  • ... and so on.

When any emails are sent out by the Moodle site for notifications, they will all be collected in the single Gmail account since Google treats these as aliases of the base account email address.

The Whatever@example.com Solution

Solution (sort of): Well, you could tell these folks to use a fake email address. Anything at example.com would do: qwerty@example.com, 123@example.com, etc. Once or twice each day, you would then go to http://yoursite/moodle/admin/user.php and confirm the new accounts. This is not a perfect solution, but it will certainly work for you and your users.

Temporary Email

Another way to go: Use a temporary email service. This will allow your students to quickly confirm their accounts and start Moodling.
