Talk:Assign roles

From MoodleDocs

I am going through the category of pages needing updating and I see this one , which is very much 1.9-based and am wondering how it fits into the new layout of roles/where it links and if it is important to update this page or to redirect to somewhere else or blend it into other roles pages -anybody have any thoughts?--Mary Cooch 18:54, 10 January 2012 (WST)

Hi Mary, I've just checked and found that the Assign roles page is linked to from the 'Assign system roles' page in Moodle, also all locally assigned roles pages, for both activities and blocks (not that you can do anything there!) so I think it would be good to update the page and describe these things. Assigning users a role in a course links to Manual enrolment so no need to cover that. Thanks! :-) Assign roles could then be included in the TOC. --Helen Foster 22:33, 10 January 2012 (WST)

Hi: I just wanted to let you know that I added a section called "Assigning Teachers" to this page. If you want to know more about why I added that section, read the message I wrote in the forum here[1] --Stephen Winters (talk) 15:38, 14 April 2014 (WST)

Thanks for adding this Stephen and please continue to add documentation if you feel we have missed anything. In this instance, looking at the forum you refer to and to FLoyd Saner's reply, I think you might have misunderstood how teachers are assigned in a course. The"other users" is to allow people to get into a course without being enrolled, which is not quite what you want (I think) I've removed the docs for now but if you did intend for all your regular teachers to be "other users" please post on the forum and we can discuss there --Mary Cooch (talk) 19:41, 14 April 2014 (WST)
