Note: You are currently viewing documentation for Moodle 2.3. Up-to-date documentation for the latest stable version is available here: Working with media.

Notice: Moodle Docs will be switched to read-only mode starting on Tuesday 17 October 14:00 UTC for server maintenance. The estimated read-only period should not take more than 24 hours.

Moodle includes a wide variety of ways in which both teachers and students can add media. A teacher, for example, might include a video or sound file in a Lesson or Quiz which could then form the basis of a set of questions.

A student could add an image to a forum discussion, glossary or database. It is also possible (with certain restrictions) to embed code from sites such as Google Maps or Voki.

Site administration settings

For sound and video to be displayed in their own players, the administrator needs to enable the Multimedia plugins filter. There are several repositories housing media, such as Youtube or Flickr which may also be enabled by the administrator so that users can select from these locations.
