Adding files to Moodle

Add files as course content, as forum attachments, as assignment submissions, as .......

You add files using the file picker ...

Describe what the file picker looks like ... (editor, filemanager, etc)

Then you select from one or more file locations (repositories). This includes your desktop computer (ie uploading a file) but can alos be one of many repositories around the web or on your network etc ....

The file is usually copied into the Moodle activity for security, but in some instances it can be linked (so that updating the original external file will automatically update how it looks in Moodle). Linking is only implemented for some repositories.

Organising your workflow

USING AN EXTERNAL REPOSITORY

- put all files there 
- use as necessary in Moodle 
- examples (Dropbox, Alfresco, Flickr etc)

USING THE PRIVATE FILES AREA IN MOODLE

- put your files there 
- use as necessary in Moodle 

ADVANCED features

- bulk upload/download using zip 
- legacy course files (mimic some of the course files sharing in 1.x, see Course_files)
- filesystem repository (see File_system_repository_configuration)
