Chris Comments: I was thinking about recommending that my site administrator look at pros and cons of this feature. So I looked it up in MoodleDocs first. I have not enabled it in one of my local host sandboxes yet (blush). Excellent information on both the article page and page comments below. Did a little editorial blending of the two and reorganized the words. I got questions.
- is it My Moodle or MyMoodle ? I vote for MyMoodle in CamelText, but that is me and bow to Helen's preference :)
- Should this be linked to Student catagory
- what impact if any does a teacher have on a student's MyMoodle beyond assignments? Is this only for the opening screen in a student view or do filters extend down to the course level.
Hope I got the swing of MyMoodle, off I go to my localhost sandbox at work to give it a shot and perhaps collect a screen shot as well. I may answer question #3 as well. --chris collman 07:11, 28 August 2006 (CDT)

- OK, since I have never created a MyMoodle page for a student, I gather that it shows up as My Courses. I am in the middle of a 4 day 10 hour per day interactive video event that is taking 100% of my attention and energy. Will come up for air later this week. Just plunking at things. Guess better I had better do what I have never have done.

1. What is the purpose of the MyMoodle page.
- The MyMoodle page enables users and teachers to customize their Moodle front page to suit their own needs. For example, a user is able to place any blocks that are available on the site.
- Use care when activating this feature as default... students can add the html block for instance, and link to items or images that you do not necessarily want them to.
2. Why is this so great?
- MyMoodle gives students easy access to content that pertains to them, and allows a student to configure the screen within limits.
3. How do I go about activating MyMoodle?
- MyMoodle needs no activation, as it is a built in feature of Moodle 1.6 - You can force a redirect to a students MyMoodle page on login by setting the 'forceredirect' option under site variables.
4. What teachers need to know about Mymoodle
- MyMoodle lists a students courses and assignments, as well as any 'sticky' blocks set by the site admin.
5. What users need to know about MyMoodle
- At this time, any site block can be set, although the user may not have permission to view the contents.
Enabling not needed?
The article says: "To enable My Moodle, click the "Force users to use My Moodle" checkbox..." but isn't it enabled by default (since 1.6)? Meaning, that they can go to http://www.ourmoodle.com/my/ and it will work. Just no automatic redirection is made after the login. --Samuli Karevaara 03:45, 14 May 2008 (CDT)
Managing blocks for the users?
The article says "users are allowed to add blocks to their My Moodle page. This can be prevented by editing the authenticated user role and changing the moodle/my:manageblocks capability from allow to not set." but in http://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-13664 Petr says "moodle/my:manageblocks capability is for sticky blocks only, users are allowed to edit blocks on this page". Just reporting, didn't have time to check which of these is true. --Samuli Karevaara 04:06, 14 May 2008 (CDT)
