On a soapbox
I think it is important for educators to remember that they are responsible for their courses, not the program that makes it possible. It is very important for site administrators to understand this when they think about their site design and options they give some or all teachers when it comes to designing their courses.
Yesterday, three students in an open computer lab were discussing their online courses at 2 other colleges. The students were experienced online learners and they were comparing their Moodle sites and with the higher priced CMS. Both sites had transitioned from the higher priced CMS and charge the same for their courses. Later I spoke with other students who I knew also took online classes from one of the colleges. One site got favorable comments about it's appearance and ease of use on the course level. The other Moodle site got a "F". From the students perspective: "Moodle looks and feels like a DOS program."
