Mystery Moodle Fun

From MoodleDocs

Description

  • IF YOU'D LIKE TO SEE THIS COURSE AS A TEACHER, log in as Ann Hansen (annhansen 375 or Jason Rose (jasonrose174)
  • This a blended learning course used with 9/10 year olds on a day visit to High School. The "brief" is to introduce them to Moodle using games on the computer or whiteboard - while at the same time learning a new (mystery!) subject that they can continue back at primary school or at home.
  • The course makes use of Conditional Activities, selectively revealing tasks once previous activities have been completed.
  • The games and SCORM activities are made from software freely available online. Other activities were made by me, Mary Cooch.
  • The first four topics are done with the teacher in class and take about an hour. The random glossary block should only be revealed after the session and topic 5 will only reveal itself after the other (in class activities are done) and are for children to continue in their own time.
  • Full instructions for teachers are in topic 1 which should be hidden at all times.
  • Starting with the giraffe movie and the items in topic 1 the children are asked to work out what it is they are learning (it's German!) The aim is to give them some basic German vocabulary that is rooted in English cognates and is therefore very easy to pick up in one hour -with the help of songs and games.

JAN 16 - I have added some student work and comments to the course and got a teacher to mark the assignment so viewers now have some data to look at.

I have completed getting the Mystery Moodle Fun course to work in 2.0 (a lot of the files didn't get copied over) and it uses Conditional Activities throughout -I have added junior school students and junior school teachers - I hope this is right - now I belive the School Masters are going to check it before it goes to the main Mt Orange site? Thanks - Mary - more to come when I have tested them in the Real World after Christmasbig grin
