Questions

  • If release is retained in the lang packs does it need duplicating in MoodleDocs?

I would say no. I am not a fan of duplicating stuff, since one of both will be outdated. Put it in MoodleDocs on a protected page and let the installer show it. It isn't translated (recently) in many languages. And even if translated, it was not often in the release. I've never seen translated release notes during installation.

  • Perhaps install could be retained too, with a link to Installing Moodle for further information?

Not necessary - provide a good link in the installer and in a readme file in the root.

  • Should licence be retained in the lang packs or be a protected wiki page?

I think licence shouldn't be translated at all because of the legal nature of that page.

  • Re. other, perhaps this could redirect to the Moodle help files?

??

  • Re. teacher, should this redirect to an updated teacher manual wiki page or to Teacher documentation?

Yes! A short introduction page on the teacher documentation

I filed two bugs on this matter, one for Moodle code bug 4800 and one for language packs bug 4759

Hi Koen, thanks for your comments :-) Let's agree for release and install information to be in MoodleDocs. The licence must be included in the Moodle download, though we could keep it in MoodleDocs too. Re. teacher, please see bug 4803. --Helen Foster 02:11, 20 February 2006 (WST)
