A list of tasks completed in the Google Highly Open Participation Contest for Moodle in 2007/2008.

Thanks to Google for giving participants the opportunity to learn more about and contribute to many aspects of open source software development!

Grand prize winner

Congratulations to Pat B (aka Worrapat Boonyaritipong) for being Moodle's grand prize winner!

We chose Pat because of his outstanding work on some of our most challenging tasks - Selenium scripts, creating a developer guide for upgrading to XMLDB, and developing a patch to improve performance. Although it must have taken Pat a great deal of time to understand the complex code, he completed each task on time and to the highest standard. He also made a valuable contribution to the Thai Moodle community in improving the Thai language pack and by creating a Moodle presentation in Thai.

Runners up

Congratulations to Rowan Chakoumakos, Szymon Kalasz and Kevin Xu for being runners up.

In addition to creating eight video tutorials for Moodle and developing a database module preset, Rowan's Moodle community involvement has been outstanding. Rowan has participated in moodle.org forum discussions, reported bugs that he came across, and has made a great many documentation page edits. Furthermore, Rowan has even set up a site for hosting Moodle tutorials at www.moodletutorials.org.

Szymon has made a valuable contribution to the Polish Moodle community in translating Moodle documentation into Polish and improving the Polish language pack. Szymon has also internationalized the Jmol (molecular visualisation) filter and has created two video tutorials for Moodle.

Kevin has shown real talent in creating entertaining, easy-to-follow video tutorials. In addition, Kevin has made worthwhile contributions to Moodle's documentation and has participated in moodle.org forum discussions. Kevin has even designed a cool Web 2.0 Moodle logo.
