Regarding this section of the docs:
To finish adding it to the dictionary change into the dictionary directory by running the following:
cd /usr/lib/aspell/
then edit the following file:
sudo nano en.multi
and add the following line:
add custom.rws
It appears as if Moodle will pick up your dictionary from your browser or user profile settings, so I have had more success editing the file en.multi rather than en_GB.multi. You are best trying each file until you find the one (or ones) that work for you.
