We have two excellent speakers for the first day of Moodleposium:

* Martin is the founder and lead developer of Moodle. He is also the Managing Director of Moodle Pty Ltd, the company at the centre of the Moodle project, based in Perth, Western Australia. As lead developer for Moodle he guides Moodle releases, maintains the roadmap and standards, and manages both paid and volunteer programmers.

John is currently on the Academic Board of the Canberra Institute of Technology and sits on the Higher Education Committee of the ACT Government. In June 2010 he was appointed Interim Director of CEDAM, ANU.

This presentation discusses how Moodle can be used in conjunction with Wikiversity as a platform for open education, with consideration of challenges, opportunities, pros and cons. Principles of open academia are described, with demonstration of sites.
