The URL downloader repository enables users to enter the URL of a file (any type e.g. png, pdf) for copying into Moodle. It may also be used to obtain all images from a web page by entering the web page address.


URL Downloader plugin is used to obtain resources by providing a url to webpage or file.

If user provides a html web page, Moodle will parse the web page to list all images used in web page.

If user provides a link to file, Moodle will try to download this file no matter what type it is.
There is just one capability, [[Capabilities/repository/url:view|Use URL downloader in file picker]], which is allowed for the default authenticated user role.
