From MoodleDocs

re the FAQ section: some of this is out of date and some of this is covered in the working with media page - should these questions remain here? Would it be appropriate to edit them/remove them? I've already deleted a chunk so I am loth to delete more -please somebody revert it back if you feel the earlier version was more helpful.--Mary Cooch 01:45, 22 August 2011 (WST)

Hi Mary, I agree. And FAQs belong on a page that says FAQs. This page needs TLC. I don't use these things. Go for it! --Chris collman 06:11, 23 August 2011 (WST)
Hi Mary, I agree with Chris - I don't use multimedia plugins much myself so your help sorting out this area of Moodle Docs would be much appreciated. Please organise it as you think best. --Helen Foster 16:46, 24 August 2011 (WST)

Please check for 2.0 and other comments

Thank you Mary, I think I get the concept of Multimedia plugins now :) I think I tidied this page. Would somebody confirm that 2.1 is the same as 2.0? As several have pointed out, my use of 2.1 is not always correct for 2.0 documents.

The intro: I really like the former first bullet that defines a multimedia plugin. So I put it as the first sentence. You will note I changed the word URL to link because I did not want to have to explain that a resource link has a URL, and of course a URL is a kind of link. A key point is that a student must have Flash installed on their computer or the multimedia plugin will not help. Is this correct?

I used the MP3 example to work in the resource and URL link. I put the Working with media page link there (although it does not look like it provides much practical info about useage (yet).

The settings: There are actually 2 things a site admin must do 1) change the active? field and look at settings. At least in 2.1 :)

Media types: Since I don't know much, I used 2.1 to fill in the blanks concerning the media types. I decided I would put them in sub categories. Frankly, I am clueless about the 3rd category but I seem to recall that people can add media plugins as contributed code, so put what was not on the 2.1 settings screen there.

Hope I did not hopelessly disorganize this page with false information, apologies if I did. --Chris collman 20:33, 24 August 2011 (WST)

Multimedia plugins

Multimedia_plugins - OU, Mar 11, a few handy discussion links, info looks OK & recent but tidy up organisation (eg FAQ?)
into some sort of common template for all filters.
