Timezone date/time is a plugin for the TinyMCE editor that inserts a date and time together with its timezone. The companion Timezone filter then shows that date and time to each reader in their own timezone.
Installation
Install the plugin from the Moodle plugins directory, or download the ZIP file and follow Installing plugins. The files go in the folder lib/editor/tiny/plugins/timezone. The plugin supports Moodle 5.0 to 5.3.
Install the Timezone filter as well and turn it on. Without it, the inserted dates and times are still shown, with their timezone, but they are not converted for each reader.
The plugin needs no configuration.
Inserting a date and time

- In the editor, click Insert date/time with timezone on the toolbar, or choose it in the Insert menu.
- Choose the Date and time.
- Choose the Timezone it is in. The list is Moodle's own list of timezones, and your device's timezone is selected to start with.
- Click Insert.
The editor shows the date and time with its timezone, for example 2026-11-12 10:00 (Asia/Tokyo). Readers see it in their own timezone wherever the Timezone filter is on.
To change a date and time you inserted, put the cursor inside it and click the same button. The dialog opens with its date, time and timezone, and Update changes it in place.
Capabilities
- tiny/timezone:use (Use the timezone date/time TinyMCE plugin): use the button. All users have it by default.
Privacy
The plugin stores no personal data.
