And then it dawned on me ... I've not signed this off at the OU yet, so what documentation, if any, have you seen? Everything I've written in on OU websites only - but of course Tim Hunt may have added some of that to the question type. But I don't know what. Maybe it will be best to wait until it is fully finished (the sub/superscript option is what's missing).

Phil:
2 are you bothered that the punctuation is correct?
Yes, of course, punctuation is all-important in lists, and that answer is a list.
Am I right to believe that pMatch does not care about punctuation at all?

I hope this is the best place to discuss the PMatch question type... I am currently testing it and have tons of questions and remarks.

  • Question 1

How can I match a correct answer including a comma, e.g. "The French flag is white, blue and red."?

match (The French flag blue white and red.) gives error message: Missing closing bracket in code fragment "match (The French flag is blue".

First let's start by asking the context that requires the comma. You clearly need 'white' 'red' and 'blue'. So

1 are you bothered about the order? Is red blue white OK?
2 are you bothered that the punctuation is correct? Do you want first colour then comma then second colour then and then third colour?

Phil:

Yes, of course, punctuation is all-important in lists, and that answer is a list.

Am I right to believe that pMatch does not care about punctuation at all?
