This message type provides an improved workflow for teachers adding links to their courses, such that the configuration of the link by the tool provider can be included in the process.  This avoids the current two-step process of creating the link and then launching it to access any configuration options the tool provider has to offer.  It also means that students will not be presented with unconfigured links in their courses, because the link will not be created until after the configuration has occurred.

Project goal

The goal of this project is to add support for the LTI Content-Item message as per the specification available from [1].

Introduction

This message type provides an improved workflow for teachers adding links to their courses, such that the configuration of the link by the tool provider can be included in the process. This avoids the current two-step process of creating the link and then launching it to access any configuration options the tool provider has to offer. It also means that students will not be presented with unconfigured links in their courses, because the link will not be created until after the configuration has occurred.
