Cool Course Competition

The purpose of the Cool Course Competition is to encourage people to donate great Moodle demo courses for our Moodle demo site and to start building our demo community hub for Moodle 2.0.

How to enter

To enter your course in the competition:

  1. Check carefully that all course content is copyright-free or covered by the GNU Public License.
  2. Optional: If you wish, add a course credit block similar to the course credit block in the Romeo and Juliet course.
  3. Create a course backup without user data and with the following options selected:
    • Metacourse: No
    • Users: None
    • Logs: No
    • User files: No
    • Course files: Yes
  4. Download and save the backup zip file.
  5. Send the backup zip file as an email attachment to helen@moodle.org together with the following information about your course:
    • Course description
    • Language
    • Subject - choose the best-matching item from the list Course Standard Tags
    • Educational level (Tertiary, Secondary, Primary, Government, Corporate etc)

Notes:

  1. You are welcome to enter as many courses in the competition as you wish.
  2. Real courses currently available on demo.moodle.org will also be eligible for the competition.

Judging

The Moodle community will be invited to vote for the winner in each category by participating in choice activities. In the event of a tie, prize money will be divided accordingly.

There will be cash prizes for each category. If you wish to contribute towards the prizes, please use http://moodle.org/donations/ or contact Moodle.com.

  • License and copyright
  • Download access (Note that Film studies course on demo.moodle.org is also available from http://www.linux-for-education.org/course/view.php?id=11)
  • Possibility of including user data
  • Backup file size limit
  • Competition duration
  • Use of donated course for advertising
  • Metadata collection (target age range for the course, ...)
