Publish student assignment to other students

This is a proposal for an additional feature to provide the ability for a student to publish her own assignment to other students (e.g, as an example/answer model/feedback or any other purposes to other students) provided that her assignment submission has been selected by the teacher to be eligible for an assignment publication in Assignment module.

Goals and rationale

The main goal of this feature is to :

• Provide an ability for a teacher to publish selected student assignment submission to other students by granting the permission to the students to publish their own assignment submissions to other students

Overview

The current behavior regarding the ability for students to publish their own assignments to other students has not yet been supported. With this 'Publish student assignment' feature, it will give teachers the ability to cheery-pick and grant a permission to students whose assignments have been selected to publish them to other students for a number of reasons such as for an answer model/feedback example for other students

A setting added to the mod_assign settings page

Submission publication (select yesno, default to no)

[Help text] When set to yes, an additional column for 'Publish' check box in the grading table will be visible to the marker in every student assignment submissions and grades. if the check box is ticked in some student submissions , it will create the 'Publish' button that will be visible to the students whose their submitted assignments have been chosen by the marker/teacher. The students will get notified of their assignments having been selected for a publication and can publish their assignments to other students by pressing the 'publish' button when they receive their respective grades and feedbacks in the submission status page.

If 'Submission publication' is set to 'yes', an additional column for 'Publish' check box in the grading table will be visible to the marker in every student assignment submissions and grades. if the check box is ticked in some student submissions , it will create the 'Publish' button that will be visible to the students whose their submitted assignments have been chosen by the marker/teacher. The students will get notified of their assignments having been selected for a publication and can publish their assignments to other students by pressing the 'publish' button when they receive their respective grades and feedbacks in the submission status page.

Single button. If 'Publish' button has been pressed, it sends a notification email to the teacher that a student assignment has been published by the student herself in the publication area that is only accessible to all students enrolled in a course where the assignment activity resides. the 'Publis' button will disappear once pressed as the student can re-publish her assignment twice for the same assignment activity)
