Safe Exam Browser is a customised web browser, available for Windows (7, 8.1, 10), macOS (starting 10.7, recommended 10.11 or newer) and iOS (9.3.5 or newer). The restrictions placed on students are similar to those in the quiz ''Extra restrictions on attempts > Browser security'' "Full screen pop-up with some JavaScript security" case, but because Safe Exam Browser is software running on the student's computer, it can do a much more effective job of restricting their actions.

In order to enable students to take an attempt with Safe Exam Browser, it is necessary to hand them a Safe Exam Browser configuration file which contains the rules applying.
This Safe Exam Browser configuration file can either be generated using the Safe Exam Browser config tool (the documentation can be found under [https://safeexambrowser.org/windows/win_usermanual_en.html#configuration https://safeexambrowser.org/windows/win_usermanual_en.html#configuration]) or directly within Moodle.

Si se hace dentro de Moodle, en la página del cuestionario, se ofrecen diferentes opciones. Dependiendo de los ajustes, se puede:

#Iniciar Safe Exam Browser aplicando los ajustes, que reenvía al alumnado a la página de inicio del cuestionario. <br />Nota: El botón "Iniciar Safe Exam Browser" para empezar el cuestionario desde otro navegador funciona solamente con Safe Exam Browser 3.0.1 para Windows y Safe Exam Browser 2.1.5pre2 para macOS. Características

Alcance y funcionalidad

Safe Exam Browser es un navegador web personalizado, disponible para Windows (7, 8.1, 10), macOS (a partir de la versión 10.7, recomendado para 10.11 o superior) e iOS (9.3.5 o superior). La aplicación debe ser descargada e instalada en el dispositivo que el alumnado use para resolver el cuestionario. Las restricciones impuestas al alumnado son parecidas a las que aparecen en la configuración del cuestionario Restricciones extra sobre los intentos > Seguridad del navegador "Ventana emergente a pantalla completa con alguna seguridad JavaScript", pero como Safe Exam Browser es un software que se ejecuta en el ordenador del alumnado, puede restringir más eficazmente sus acciones.

  • El alumnado únicamente puede intentar resolver el cuestionario cuando está usando Safe Exam Browser.
  • La ventana del navegador no tendrá URL ni campo de búsqueda, y las opciones de avanzar adelante, atrás y recarga pueden ser desactivadas.
  • Safe Exam Browser no se puede cerrar hasta que se envíe el cuestionario.
  • La opción de cambiar a otras aplicaciones está deshabilitada por defecto, pero se puede permitir su uso durante el examen.
  • Atajos de teclado como Win+Tab, Alt+Tab, Ctrl+Alt+Del, Alt+F4, Imprimir pantalla, o Cmd+Tab están deshabilitadas o no se pueden usar para cerrar Safe Exam Browser o para cambiar de cuenta de usuario en el ordenador, así como hacer capturas de pantalla.
  • El portapapeles se vacía al iniciar y salir de Safe Exam Browser.
  • El menú contextual del navegador está deshabilitado.
  • Se pueden configurar sitios, páginas y/o recursos determinados para que se pueda acceder a los mismos durante el examen usando un filtro URL.
  • La revisión ortográfica y el diccionario están deshabilitados, aunque se pueden autorizar.

Para que el alumnado pueda completar cuestionarios usando Safe Exam Browser hace falta proporcionarles un archivo con la configuración del mismo. Este archivo se puede generar con la herramienta de configuración (cuya documentación se puede encontrar en https://safeexambrowser.org/windows/win_usermanual_en.html#configuration) o directamente dentro de Moodle.

Si se hace dentro de Moodle, en la página del cuestionario, se ofrecen diferentes opciones. Dependiendo de los ajustes, se puede:

  1. Descargar Safe Exam Browser. El botón enlaza al sitio de descarga, que por defecto es https://safeexambrowser.org/download_en.html.
  2. Iniciar Safe Exam Browser aplicando los ajustes, que reenvía al alumnado a la página de inicio del cuestionario.
    Nota: El botón "Iniciar Safe Exam Browser" para empezar el cuestionario desde otro navegador funciona solamente con Safe Exam Browser 3.0.1 para Windows y Safe Exam Browser 2.1.5pre2 para macOS. Para otras versiones se deberá utilizar "Descargar configuración" y luego abrir este archivo, el cual ejecutará Safe Exam Browser con el cuestionario.
  3. Descargar el archivo de configuración del Safe Exam Browser. - esto también le permite usar el archivo de configuración como una plantilla.
  4. Volver al curso.

SEB

Se toman diferentes medidas para asegurar que el Safe Exam Browser utilizado para completar el cuestionario utilice la configuración correcta y no se pueda modificar o manipular.

Se pueden ajustar una o varias claves de examen para validar la versión de SEB utilizada por el alumnado al acceder al cuestionario, y para asegurar que el navegador Safe Exam Browser esté correctamente configurado y asegurado para ese cuestionario en particular.

Otra posibilidad es usar una clave de configuración. En ese caso y durante el intento, Moodle envía sus respuestas con una clave de configuración personalizada que se combina con la URL en una SHA256 hash. Para poder utilizar esta clave de configuración se necesitan como mínimo las siguientes versiones: macOS – 2.1.5pre2, Windows – 2.4, iOS – 2.1.16.

Configuraciones de Safe Exam Browser

Requerir el uso de Safe Exam Browser - Ajusta si el alumnado debe responder el cuestionario usando Safe Exam Browser o no. Las opciones disponibles son:

  • No: No es necesario usar Safe Exam Browser para hacer el cuestionario.
  • Sí – Configurar manualmente: No se usará ninguna plantilla para la configuración de Safe Exam Browser. Se puede configurar de forma manual.
  • Sí – Usar una plantilla existente: Se puede usar una plantilla para la configuración. Las plantillas se gestionan desde la administración del sitio. Los ajustes manuales sobreescriben los de la plantilla.
  • Sí – Cargar mi propia configuración: Se puede subir su propio archivo de configuración de Safe Exam Browser. Todos los ajustes manuales y el uso de plantillas se deshabilitarán.
  • Sí – Usar la configuración del cliente SEB: No existen configuraciones de Safe Exam Browser guardadas en Moodle. El cuestionario puede hacerse con cualquier configuración de Safe Exam Browser. El archivo de configuración de Safe Exam Browser se proporciona al alumnado por otros medios, como se hacía con Moodle ≤ 3.8.

Sí – Usar una plantilla existente solo se muestra cuando existen plantillas para compartir. Si ningún administrador o gestor ha subido y habilitado alguna plantilla, no se muestra esta opción.

Mostrar el botón de descarga de Safe Exam Browser - Ajusta la posibilidad de mostrar un botón para descargar Safe Exam Browser en la página de inicio del cuestionario. Sólo se puede ajustar en los casos Sí - Requerir el uso de Safe Exam Browser – Configurar manualmente, Sí – Usar una plantilla existente, Sí – Cargar mi propia configuración o Sí – Usar la configuración del cliente SEB.

Mostrar el botón Salir de Safe Exam Browser, configurado con este enlace de salida - Se puede introducir un enlace para salir de Safe Exam Browser. Será a través de un botón "Salir de Safe Exam Browser" en la página que aparecerá después de terminar y enviar el cuestionario. Se podrá salir de Safe Exam Browser haciendo clic en ese botón o en un enlace a la misma URL colocado donde se quiera sin necesidad de introducir una contraseña de salida. Si se deja ese campo vacío, no aparecerá ese botón de "Salir de Safe Exam Browser" ni el enlace. Solamente se podrá ajustar si Requerir el uso de Safe Exam Browser está ajustado a Sí – Configurar manualmente.

Pedir al usuario que confirme la salida - Si se habilita, los usuarios deberán confirmar la salida de Safe Exam Browser. Nótese que este ajuste sólo afecta a la salida mediante el enlace, pero no al botón "Salir", Ctrl-Q o el botón de cerrar en la ventana principal del navegador. Sólo se podrá ajustar si Requerir el uso de Safe Exam Browser se ha seleccionado con la opción Sí – Configurar manualmente.

Habilitar salir de SEB - Ajusta si los usuarios pueden salir de Safe Exam Browser con el botón "Salir" en la barra de herramientas de Safe Exam Browser, presionando las teclas Ctrl-Q o haciendo clic en el botón de cerrar ventana del navegador. Sólo se puede ajustar si en Requerir el uso de Safe Exam Browser se ha seleccionado Sí – Configurar manualmente o Sí– Usar una plantilla existente.
