Accessed from Course navigation > Activities, the activities overview lists all activities in the course with dates and other information relevant to teachers and students.
Teacher view
Teachers see a list of the activities organised by activity type. For Assignment and Workshop they also see due dates, number of submissions and number requiring grading. For Feedback they see the number of submissions.
Resources such as files, folders, Books and Pages are combined into the Resources section.
Student view
Students see a similar list of activities and for graded activities they see due dates, completion requirements and their submission status.
Hiding or showing the activities overview
Access to the activities overview is controlled by the capability View activities overview, which is allowed for the default roles of manager, teacher, non-editing teacher and student.
To hide the activities overview in all courses on the site, you need to go to Site administration > Users > Define roles, edit the roles of teacher, non-editing teacher and student and unset the 'View activities overview' capability.
You can hide the activities overview in a particular course via Course navigation > Participants > Permissions.

Dates and other information from the following activities are shown in the Activities overview: Assignment, Feedback, Resources, Workshop, BigBlueButton, Choice, Database, Forum, Glossary, H5P, Lesson, SCORM and Quiz (the last 9 are new in 5.1).
