On occasion, the Atto editor can insert HTML code, without your knowledge, into the text between { and } with the result that the Cloze question does not work as expected.

For example, if you have the following question text:

 Moodle is the {:SA:=best~=leading} LMS.

the question must contain exactly {:SA:=best~=leading}. However, it is possible that the Atto editor has inserted an HTML tag, for example a &lt;span&gt; tag as follows:

 Moodle is the {:SA:=best~&lt;span&gt;=&lt;/span&gt;leading} LMS.

This can only be revealed if you view the HTML code of the question text. Check [https://docs.moodle.org/401/en/Text_editor#Displaying_the_HTML_code Displaying the HTML code] to see how to do it.

So, if the Cloze question is not working as it should, check that it does not contain intrusive HTML tags. All you have to do is edit the HTML code of the question text and remove these tags.
