Activity completion is a setting which, when enabled, allows the teacher to set completion criteria against an activity.A check(tick) appears against the activity, and this changes style when the activity has been completed. The activity may be classed as completed automatically if the student has fulfilled certain tasks, or the student may be allowed to mark it complete manually.
Activity completion allows the teacher to set completion criteria in a specific activity's settings. . The criterion might be viewing, receiving a certain score or a student marking it as complete.

NOTE: There is also an Activity completion condition in the Restrict Access settings of an activity when using [[Conditional activities]] However, it is possible to track activity completion without using [[Conditional activities]]


==Enabling the Activity Completion settings in an activity==

*As an administrator, go to Settings>Site Administration>[[Advanced_features| Advanced features]]
*Check the "Enable completion tracking" setting
*The Activity completion option will then be displayed in the settings of an activity:

A teacher may mark an activity complete on behalf of a student from the [[Activity completion report]] if they have the capability Override activity completion (which is enabled by default.)

How to set up activity completion to track progress

Note: If you don't see an 'Activity completion' option when setting up course activities and sections, ensure it is enabled in your course settings and then check with the administrator that completion tracking is enabled in Site administration > Advanced features.
