Modifying core code - The Drupal way
Hi Petr, I like the general idea of providing local customizations of core code as a plugin. In fact, Drupal allows for overriding core functions by modules, see http://drupal.org/node/347659 for an example an further information. --Frank Ralf 09:20, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Local Customisation in Moodle 1.9
Hi there, am I going mad? Has the very useful information on local customisation in Moodle 1.9 disappeared? Whilst I am very excited about the new features available in Moodle 2.0, we will be maintaining sites in 1.9 for probably years to come. Can we have the information back please? :) --Dan Ballance 20:49, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- Good point. Can you dig the old version out of the history tab above, and copy/paste it onto a Local customisation (Moodle 1.9) page? Of course, I could do that too, but I am feeling lazy, and you are the one who wants the information ;-)--Tim Hunt 21:00, 25 May 2010 (UTC)
- I've tried to recover Local customisation (Moodle 1.9) from the last version before Moodle 2.0 is mentioned the first time. Not sure if that's the right one and if it's complete, though. --Frank Ralf 07:06, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- brilliant, that's the stuff. Just to be clear, I'm not being lazy, I knew I could add comments - can I create pages too? Do I have enough permissions? And if I do, what are the rules about what pages I can create, when and where? I've also never used this wiki before and I did have a look at the log but couldn't make a lot of sense of it. Wasn't even sure of what had happened - just a page I *thought* I recognised in Google listings *seemed* to be taking me to the wrong place. If it confused me, it will confuse others. Anyways, will endeavour to commit more to these pages if I'm allowed over time. Still "finding my feet" in the Moodle community :) --Dan Ballance 19:34, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, Dan, see en:MoodleDocs:Guidelines for contributors for information on how to contribute. A good testing ground is creating you own user page User:Dan Ballance. Always remember the wiki motto "Be bold!" --Frank Ralf 19:51, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Yes, of course you can create new pages. (And the beauty of a wiki is that if you do something stupid or inappropriate, we can undo it ;-)). But on the whole, no enough people make valuable contributions, almost no one makes inappropriate contributions, and far too many people never contribute what they could. So, go for it!--Tim Hunt 20:24, 26 May 2010 (UTC)
- Created an official tracker issue at MDLSITE-1134 to move things forward. --Frank Ralf 07:57, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
