A student can upload a single file.

This could be a Word document, spreadsheet or anything in digital format. Multiple files may be zipped and then submitted.  After students upload their files, the teacher will be able to open the submission and use the Moodle interface to assign a grade and offer comments as feedback.  A student may submit a file as many times as they like up until the deadline.  Only the latest file is retained, and this is the one the lecturer marks.

==Settings==

These settings are in addition to the general assignment settings outlined on [[Adding/editing_an_assignment|editing an assignment]].

===Allow resubmitting===
By default, students cannot resubmit assignments once the teacher has graded them.  If you turn this option on, then students will be allowed to resubmit assignments after they have been graded (for you to re-grade). This may be useful if the teacher wants to encourage students to do better work in an iterative process.

To make a resubmission, it is important to note that the instructor does not have to do anything else for the user to make their resubmission, other than that one setting for ''Allow Resubmitting''. Even if they grade the assignment, the user needs only upload a file again to overwrite the old file, and then the submission will be marked as needing to be graded again in the ''View # submitted assignments'' page.

===Email alerts to teachers===
If enabled, then teachers are alerted with a short email whenever students add or update an assignment submission.

Only teachers who are able to grade the particular submission are notified. So, for example, if the course uses separate groups, then teachers restricted to particular groups won't receive any notices about students in other groups.

Unit 1 & 2

Unit 1: 1-1
1: What does science study? The goal  of science is to investigate and understand the natural world, to explain event in the natural world, and to use those explanations to make useful predictions.

2:What does it mean to describe a scientist as skeptical? Why is skepticism considered a vauable quality in a scientist? Good scientist are skeptic, which means that they question both existing ideas and new hypothesis. Scientist continually evaluate the strengths  and weakness of hypothesis. Scientist must be open-minded and consider new hypothesis if data demand it.

3:What is the main difference between qualitative and quantitative observations?
Quantitative data are expressed as numbers, obtained by counting or measuring. Qualitative data are descriptive and involve characteristics that can’t usually be counted.

4:What is the scientific hypothesis? In what two ways can a hypothesis be tested?
Scientific hypothesis must be proposed in a way that enables them to be tested. Some are tested by performing controlled experiments and other by gathering more data.

5:Is a scientific hypothesis accepted if there is no way to demonstrate that the hypothesis is wrong? Explain you’re answer. No it is not accepted because when there is a wrong hypothesis they half to keep testing it to get a right answer or researcher working on the complex questions often collaborate in teams.

1-2
1: Why is redi’s experiment on spontaneous generation considered a controlled experiment? Redi had observed that these hypothesis for the appearance of maggos. Redi had observerd that these organisms appeared on meat a few days after flies were present. He considered it likely that the flies aid eggs to small for people to see. Thus, Redi was proposing a new hypothesis- flies produced maggots. Redi’s next step was to test his hypothesis.

2: How  does a scientific theory compare with a scientific hypothesis? As new evidence is uncovered, a theory may be revised or replaced by a more useful explanation. Scientist resist a new way looking at nature, but over time new evidence determines which ideas survive and which are replaced.

3: How do scientists today usually communicate their results and conclusion? Scientists analyze, review, and critique the strengths and weaknesses of theories.

4: How did the design of Pasteurs’s flask help him successfully refute the hypothesis of spontaneous generation? He designed a flask that had a long curved neck. the flask remained opened to the air, but microorganisms from the air did not make their way through the neck into the flask. Pasteur showed that as long as the both was protected from microorganisms, it remained free of living things. About a year after the experiment began, Pasteur broke the neck of the flask, and the broth quickly became filled with microorganisms
