Love for Moodle

We've just moved out of the 'pilot' phase and into the 'live' phase of our Moodle implementation. So far the system has had a really good reaction from students and teachers. We've had no trouble linking the system Active Directory and to our MIS (UK product Facility CMIS). Moodle is one of the greatest open source products I've seen so far. I'm really looking forward to seeing how all the students and teachers react to the system.

There are 3 options for anyone wanting to link Moodle to Facility CMIS in the UK.

Option #1

Link teaching groups to courses via Moodle enrolment settings. Pros: Out of the box solution Cons: 1 course per teaching group - not ideal. Its better to be able to allocate teaching groups to any course

Option #2

My AJAX linker software Pros: Works perfectly (so far). Enables teaching groups to be added and removed to any course. Uses nice dynamic js tree to display year group, teaching group. Also, transfers your entire year/subject structure from Facility CMIS to Moodle as subject category structure. Cons: Requires modification to moodle (small mod). Requires AD user account to have admin number in description field (your network admin might not like you messing with this)

AJAX linker software - very similar to my solution Pros: Works as a block. Does not require a modification to moodle Cons: I have not tested it so I can not comment yet.
