There is a question as to whether the Algebra Filter is even working in v2.x. So is this page even necessary? It is my understanding that the Algebra Filter works using a Perl script. As this is so, then why persist with it? Perl runs in Linux servers but more and more servers are surrendering to Microsoft, which does not use Perl, I am given to understand. TeX is a more accessible across platforms, so if the TeX Notation Filter was developed further, it would make better sense to drop support for the Algebra Filter altogether in a future version of Moodle.

TeX is a more accessible across platforms, so if the TeX Notation Filter was developed further, would it not make better sense to drop support for the Algebra Filter altogether in a future version of Moodle? --Colin Fraser (talk) 09:51, 4 January 2014 (WST)
