A note of caution should be added warning users not to import course data into an already edited course with content. Doing so will most likely merge sections (if they already exist) or create a number of empty sections in the target course, causing the user to believe the import action failed.
There should also be an improvement request in Moodle Tracker for this, to prevent this from happening.
