One of the things about this model that I have always been interested in is dream interpretation.  I feel that dreams can give a lot of information to the therapist because I do think that the dreams can uncover the unconscious material that is repressed.  When I was completing my undergrad I took a class on dream interpretation and I decided that I was going to start analysisinp my own dreams.  So I started to keep a dream journal and would look up what the symbols in my dreams meant and keep notes on each dream and the meanings.  I probably did this for a few weeks and then I honestly cannot remember what the dream was that I had or what the meaning of the dream was now, but at the time I was so disturbed about my dream that I decided that I had enough of dream interpretation.  Thinking back on this makes me wonder was my unconscious mind trying to tell me something or did I not have a clue what I was doing and interpreted my dream completely wrong.
Since you are referring to this model as a “nondisease” model I think that it will be interesting to compare and contrast this model to the other models we have already looked at.  The more I get into the material in all of the ADDS classes I am finding that I am still struggling with the question is addition linked more to nature or neuture.  In this module the analytic model looks at the concepts of personality structure, defense mechanisms, and anxiety.
