Gary Anderson has been involved in educational technology for most of his professional life, first as the general manager of a large computer store in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, then as a software developer, and for the past dozen years he has joined the rest of his family in a career as a teacher.

His research interest is investigating ways that students, when given quick feedback, can improve the effectiveness of learning.

He is the Math Department Chair of Seattle Academy, a private college-prep school, where he teaches second-year Calculus, Advanced Algebra, and a sequence of math electives including statistics, math modeling, and software development.

He has extensively customized Moodle for the classroom environment with a couple dozen sets of patches (see Seattle_Academy), a handful of blocks, and 2 activity modules including one based on the theory of spaced repetition. He is now also customizing Mediawiki to work well in the high school environment.
