What does mountain climbing have to do with mathematics (see pg. 510 in online text)?
A forum  can contribute significantly to successful communication and community building in an online environment. You can use forums for many innovative purposes in educational settings, but teaching forums and student forums are arguably the two more significant distinctions.

The higher you are on a mountain (altitude) the colder the temperature. The relationship between these two variables can be expressed as a linear function and equation. For example, if the temperature at sea level is 800F, then the linear function (equation) that would represent the relationship where the temperature (t) decreases as the altitude or height (h) of the mountain climber increases, would be t = 80 – 3.6h, where h = 1000 ft.

From your assigned readings, please identify and describe another real life situation that can be represented as a linear function. What are the two variables? Describe whether they increase or decrease?
