Contributed code (formerly called "non-standard") has been donated to the Moodle community but is not included in the standard Moodle package. While, initially presented as contributed code, some of these Modules and Plugins end up in future standard packages of Moodle.

Caution: Before installing any contributed code, please read the documentation (both in MoodleDocs and via links in the Modules & Plugin area) and forum posts. The Moodle version on your site can be important. When upgrading a Moodle site, some of the contributed code may not work. And while a great deal of effort maybe put into developing a specific code to make it compatible with every aspect and feature, it is not part of the standard package. For example, two different contributed codes, might conflict with one another and impact your Moodle site.

Contributed code is an important way that open source software and Moodle develops features and improvements to the Standard package. Developers and users of contributed code are generally very helpful and encourage feedback in various forums.
