This is seriously incomplete. While the article talks about {param} it does not fully explain what that actually is. Is this a "wild card"? Or something different?
While the article talks about {param} it does not fully explain what that actually is in terms anyone who is not a programmer could understand. Is this a "wild card"? Or something different? A simple calculated question is not simple at all. Why does the question need a wild card? Why can a simple answer not be entered? Or should there be another question type? Or should the author of  a quiz wanting numerical answers, use a different question type? --Colin Fraser (talk) 19:30, 8 February 2016 (AWST)

What is worse, there is no explanation of Wild Cards. What are they, what are they supposed to do? Why the question requires wild cards and so on.--Colin Fraser (talk) 19:30, 8 February 2016 (AWST)
At the OU, we made https://moodle.org/plugins/qtype_varnumeric, https://moodle.org/plugins/qtype_varnumericset and https://moodle.org/plugins/qtype_varnumunit for our own use, and shared them. Thanks Tim, these are great plugins, I bet. I am not in a position of being able to add any plugin. It has taken me 12 months to convince the powers that be to add in the Progress Bar plugin.--Colin Fraser (talk) 19:50, 9 February 2016 (AWST)
