Hi Ian - perhaps a good idea might be to link to your forum thread on the  main page as you have linked to it here so others will be alerted to it. Feel free to do this yourself as the docs are open to everyone for editing. If you are too busy I'm happy to do the link.--[[User:Mary Cooch|Mary Cooch]] 04:00, 1 May 2013 (WST)

Moodle 2.3 Tested

Today 1st Aug 2012 I have tested tested setting secure SMTP with Gmail and it works perfectly without an issue. I have made changes to the Wiki to outline what needs to be done. --Kyle Goslin

Great work Kyle, thanks a lot :-) --Helen Foster 23:19, 1 August 2012 (WST)

Edit for Amazon SES instructions?

I can adapt these to work with amazon SES can I create a new page or edit this article to be more generally about hosted email solutions?

Ben, thanks for offering to add Amazon SES instructions. Please feel free to create a new page for it. --Helen Foster 19:43, 17 April 2012 (WST)

Page should discourage people from using Gmail with Moodle

See my comment here and read the rest of the huge thread: https://moodle.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=65156&parent=988492

In my opinion Gmail is not a good choice for Moodle for the reasons I put in the comment above. I think this page should reflect that more, it seems many people are spending a lot of time trying to get the two systems to work well together, when there are other far more suitable solutions.
