William Bunn College Preparatory Middle School WBPS OBJECTIVES

Primary Objectives: Summer of 2012 provide 336 young men from grades 4th through 10th grade the opportunity to attend WBPS Academic Boot Camp and 2012-2013 WBPS Leadership Program.

Academic Boot Camp The William Bunn College Preparatory Middle School

• WBPS Academic Boot Camp (all boys‟) is focused on the student’s character development and academic determination.

• WBPS Boot Camp is 9 weeks long and concludes with a promotion ceremony

• WBPS works with the Alexander YMCA and Camp High Hopes and the Salvation Army Summer Camp

• Camp conducts physical training

• Educational enrichment activities to an array of colleges and universities

• Boot camp teaches young men discipline which transforms into the classroom and life

WHO DOES WBPS WE SERVE?

The WBPS serve students whom lack: • Self-Esteem • Motivation • Determination • Decision making abilities • Guidance • Self-Control • How to handle Peer Pressure

WBPS Leadership Program

• Held the first annual WBPS Mothers Day Cotillion.

• Built a “Library of High Standards” for children at the Salvation Army. • Delivered coloring books to UNC and WakeMed children’s hospitals. • WBPS Day of Law with Superior Court Judge Croom and Judge Thigpen. • College visits to UNC Chapel Hill, NC State University and Duke University. • Angus Barn Day, where students learned to prep food and provide quality service. • Over 160 hours of character development course work including: how to present yourself, building character from the inside out,

       the development of a WB Prep man. 

• Over 100 hours of extra academic course work and tutoring. • Delivered chapter books to local elementary schools. • Developed a big brother program with WBPS students and at risk elementary school students. • Bagged groceries at Kroger and Harris Teeter grocery stores. • Participated in RTP Week
