Grouping users: Difference between revisions

*[[ Groupings]] are a collection of groups.  If you had 10 groups, you could combine or mix and match the smaller groups into 2 or more groupings. You can assign a grouping to a context like an assignment. 
*[[Cohorts]]:On the site or category level you assign a user to a cohort.  Cohorts are used in the enrolment process to bulk enrol into one or more courses.  If you wish the cohort to be members of a group within the course you will then have to add them to a group in a further step.

It is useful to put students(or users) in group.  Moodle has several flexible ways of doing this. Here is a simple overview of things that can create a complex structure.

*Cohort:On the site level you assign a user to a Cohort group.  Cohorts are used in the enrolment process.  You can enrol a cohort in one or more courses.  A cohort loses it's identity once the individuals enter a context of a course but gains it back when they leave.
