Housing comes in a variety of typologies whether its apartments, single family homes, or even multi-family. Apartment housing is usually larger than all the other typologies, have multiple stories, and can hold a lot more people. Withing apartments they can have single units, meant for a single person. Also apartments can have double or triple units, which can hold two or three people. Single family homes on the other hand are meant for residential living and usually are one to two stories. Muli-family houses are similar to single family homes. For instance they look the same as single family homes but are split up on the inside to divided equally, with different entries so that more than one family can live in the home. These different typologies can also sometimes vary within themselves depending on the location of the site. For instance, I live in Piscataway New Jersey and go to school in Newark New Jersey and there are differences between the typologies. Apartments are more common in Newark, but are generally constructed using the same materials as in Piscataway, which is brick masonry. Single family homes are more common in Piscataway and use a variety of materials like brick, siding, and in some cases stucco. The single family homes in Newark tend to be made out of brick, but are usually row houses like the ones found on James Street. Mult-family homes in Piscataway are typically the same as the single family homes in Piscataway, just sub-divided.
