Documentation Issues

As noted in forums, and arguably as evidenced by posters, current TeX filter needs comprehensive documentation. Of course, an alternative is to replace it altogether Marc Grober 17:13, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

I would not disagree with you on either of those points Marc..:) To get some better documentation started, I am posting some of my own fumbling forays into the TeX filter in the hope that someone will be encouraged enough to make them better. In the meantime, the Introduction to this "A Tale of Two Filters" is confusing in itself - but this is a standard of the entire TeX world I suspect. One of the main issues I can see is that lot of experts have fallen in love with their own expertise and have forgotten that the people who are looking for information do not have that expertise - something we need to avoid here. I would also suggest that using such comments as "See Latex documentation.." are meaningless to most people. If you try and read it as a complete newbie, then you would understand why it is meaningless. --Colin Fraser 19:35, 8 July 2010 (UTC)
