Wow, that drag and drop info is great! Thank you!!! --Art Lader 00:10, 8 April 2006 (WST)

Second to that. I can hardly wait to try that!--Chris collman 22:27, 13 May 2006 (WST)

Just a comment that I hope Helen will offer a big picture opinion about. This page is about editing question types. Think a redirect will help newbie's.

Got here after a question from the General Forum on how to add a picture in an answer, realized I knew how to do it but had never seen instructions in Moodle doc. My sandboxes in 1.5 and 1.6 are acting really quirky concerning the html editor in answers and responces. I don't think a teacher can see the html editor help for answers and responces until the teacher saves the question the first time and goes back in for an edit. Oh well.

Note to file: needs graphics where it says Figure 5.5 etc. I will add screenshots to our files on that unless somebody else beats me to it.

I have not been in quiz for a while, I will go play with a quiz question in my sandbox but somebody should check my edits to make sure I am not pushing the Lesson Module way to create and edit questions. --Chris collman 22:27, 13 May 2006 (WST)

Different question types in the Quiz and Lesson modules

I've just noticed that the present state of the documentation on 'question types' is a bit confusing. This is due to the fact that the lists of question types available to the Quiz and to the Lesson modules are not exactly the same. As far as I'm concerned, the new 'Regular Expression' question type which I developed has been included into the Lesson module in Moodle 1.6, but not in the Quiz module (it remains available as a third-party plugin, however). Perhaps Helen (and Chris) have been over-zealous(?!) in this matter, but I think we should stick to a documentation which reflects the exact current state of Moodle (using the 1.6, 1.7 etc.) markers where applicable. If those concerned agree, I will try to make this part of the documentation more consistent. And we are all looking forward to a future version of Moodle where the question types will be unified for Lesson and Quiz and where all questions in the bank will be made available to both modules! --Joseph Rézeau 11:48, 6 October 2006 (CDT)

Yes I admit to be an inconsistant zealot, absolutely more impulsive than Helen :) My primary focus is the explaination of how each of these question types work. Figuring out how to tell people which is used where is a lot more complex. I believe Joseph has skills and experience that I don't have. I will be happy to follow someone else's lead in working out the matrix.
I was considering little icons for quiz and lessons with a number included (ie Q1_5, Q1_6, Q1_7, L1_7 etc) but that would really clutter up the page. I also considered using the letter notation at the end of a description (Q_all, L1_6+ or something). I also considered a handy reference table, columns for type, and for each version, with sub columns for Q and L check marks.
Do you think the number of question types is growing, and perhaps needing more space for explaination/examples, that each one should have its own page, with Question_types serving as a brief summary with links? Or is that too much like a help page. --Chris collman 08:14, 8 October 2006 (CDT)
