:Hi Chris, please note that all locations in Moodle for assigning roles link to this documentation page, so it probably needs to be quite long. However, I think a page introduction would be nice. --[[User:Helen Foster|Helen Foster]] 04:30, 21 February 2008 (CST)

Using Moodle 2, I could not find the ''Assign roles'' link in course administration block, neither was there any  ''Roles'' tab in the user profile page. (See the ''Locations for assigning roles'' paragraph). I checked my permissions on the site and I have all rights set to '''on'''. (I would have uploaded screnshots but I couldn't find a button to do so.) Has the page been updated for Moodle 2? I saw a Moodle 2 icon at the top left, but Moodle 1.9 was written at the bottom of the page.

This page needs an introduction. A lot of this useful information should be summarized in the page now called Roles and capabilities, the top link on the Roles template. Check for useful internal links on terms that might not be understood by a new user. Once review of Roles template pages is complete, might consider reorganizing this page which has a long history. --Chris collman 06:07, 20 February 2008 (CST)

Using Moodle 2, I could not find the Assign roles link in course administration block, neither was there any Roles tab in the user profile page. (See the Locations for assigning roles paragraph). I checked my permissions on the site and I have all rights set to on. (I would have uploaded screnshots but I couldn't find a button to do so.) Has the page been updated for Moodle 2? I saw a Moodle 2 icon at the top left, but Moodle 1.9 was written at the bottom of the page.

The docs are in the middle of being re-organised to separate out what is relevant to 1.9, 2.0, etc, but that job is not complete yet. In Moodle 2.0, assign roles has moved into the Settings block. For example Course administration -> Users -> Enrolled users.--Tim Hunt 18:56, 27 June 2011 (WST)
