Template:MoodleDocs development
Introduction
- Each version will contain the language code in the URL e.g. docs.moodle.org/es/..., docs.moodle.org/de/... etc.
- Moodle help files will remain in each language pack for those using Moodle locally without an Internet connection.
- All documentation contributions should be encouraged, including creating new pages i.e. contributors should not be restricted to only translating English pages.
- Translation will be multi-directional i.e. not just translation from English into other languages (e.g. a Spanish developer writes documentation in Spanish which is then translated into other languages).
Core documentation
- Essential documentation should be decided upon and assigned to a core category. All these pages should be translated.
- Core category pages will have interlanguage links.
- Let's start with a core of pages with content from language pack docs files. Then we may consider Moodle link pages.
Page titles/URLs
- MediaWiki page titles are the same as the last part of the URL. With the exception of Moodle link pages, page titles should be translated.
Questions
- Should translators be expected to structure pages?
- Should pages be provided in English?
- Certain language pack doc file content has been changed a lot plus links have been added e.g. Developer documentation
- How should versioning be managed? How important is versioning?
- How many interlanguage links should core category pages contain?
- Features to consider using: Export pages and Import pages
