I downloaded and installed the XAMPP package to my computer and actually got it working without any instructions. Problem is, now that I read the instructions, I wonder what on earth these instructions are for because the installation process looked virtually nothing like these instructions describe it.

Extaction of moodle files

When you extract the moodle files into the htdocs folder it does indeed create a moodle folder. However you seem to have to go to

http:\\localhost\moodle\moodle

to get the install.php to work (it says http:\\localhost\moodle in the guide)
