For Students

I am not sure about this section. Preview is a teacher function, trying to make this page do double duty for students, will not allow us to write clear generic instructions for students. Student:Quiz help maybe, or Quiz (student). Just saw the "Viewing a Quiz" page, which could be the student page, except I would call it "Taking a quiz" or one of the other names I suggested (or a better one).

It is an excellent idea to have information for students. I am always explaining the navigation and different ways to stop a quiz to students in my proctored exams. They only get one chance at a quiz. --Chris collman 07:23, 24 February 2008 (CST)

Hi Chris, to explain things a little, the "For Students" section was added by Gustav Delius two years ago, to request help in writing a help popup for students when they attempt a quiz. However, as with all areas of Moodle, the aim is to make everything as student-friendly as possible, and remove the need for student documentation or help popups. Thus, I've removed the "For Students" section from this page. Students don't generally have "Moodle Docs for this page" links on each page in Moodle anyway ;-)
If you have any suggestions for making quizzes more student-friendly, please create an improvement issue in the tracker. If you find it necessary to always provide an explanation of quiz navigation and of the different ways to stop a quiz to students, please discuss this in the quiz module forum. Thanks for any insights you can provide :-) --Helen Foster 09:26, 2 September 2008 (CDT)

German page - a suggestion

Please take a look at the corresponding german page: The title is different: Attempting a test. The student's section describes what a student has to do, how to navigate within the quiz, how to submit or save a quiz and what is different when using adaptive mode. The teacher's section describes the quiz preview how a teachersees it (purpose of preview: the trainer can test the quiz himself before providing it to students)

Summarizing: The focus should be on "attempt" (the student's perspective) and not on "preview" (the teachers perspective), especially since the MoodleDocs link from Moodle which leads to this article is "mod/quiz/attempt". @Helen Foster: If you agree with this point of view I can translate the german text into english! --Gisela hillenbrand 11:13, 14. Hi Gisala, thanks for your suggestion and for your kind offer to translate the German text into English :-) As you've noted, the corresponding page in Moodle is "mod/quiz/attempt", which provides a quiz preview for teachers and provides students with the chance to attempt the quiz. However, as mentioned in a comment above, students don't generally have "Moodle Docs for this page" links on each page in Moodle, so I think the focus should be on "preview" (the teacher's perspective). It would be great though if you could provide a translation of the German text, either on this talk page or in a quiz module forum posting. We can then use it when considering how to make quizzes more student-friendly :-) --Helen Foster 09:40, 2 September 2008 (CDT)
