Enrollment and other non-English spellings

From time to time, I revert edits where one of my North American colleagues thinks a word has been misspelled. Sometimes a page is not consistent, so which spelling should be used. This page is not consistent in its use of the word enrolment/enrollment.

My personal rule of thumb, the initial writer's spelling rules. In other words if I create a page, I get to select the word color (not colour) or enrollment. Typically what happens is that someone will rewrite a section and not see the other spellings.

This page was created by Helen Foster who I believe is a native speaker of United Kingdom English. I am changing the rest of the page to be consistent with enrolment :) --Chris collman 18:00, 1 October 2010 (UTC) http://www2.gsu.edu/~wwwesl/egw/jones/differences.htm

Page title history

The initial draft of this page was called Settings and was renamed "Course settings" by Helen Foster around this date. Thanks --Chris collman 06:46, 31 August 2006 (CDT)

Post Script, I removed all the previous comments, I think that is OK and I do not mean to offend. --Chris collman 06:46, 31 August 2006 (CDT)

I've a added a paragraph about the new page format "Page format" Flex pages. SE, December 28, 2007 - Moodlerooms Assignment

Starting course on a Monday

Currently the suggestion is being made to start the course on the first day of the class, or yesterday if there is no day defined. However, I have found that it is pretty important to start a course on the first day of the week (like a Monday), otherwise students will be breaking from one section to the next on different times if they are taking a variety of classes and this breakpoint will not be predicable in many cases. Should this be in the instructions?

Interesting, this should be a site or institutional policy, perhaps a tip in MoodleDocs on Course FAQ on sections. Wonder if your issue is more of an exception than the norm. On the other side, many sites do not have sections, have self course enrollment 365 days a year. They want breakpoints (conditions/dependencies) on the course level for automatic sequencing without administrative/faculty involvement beyond reports of completion. Moodle is many things to many people. Best --Chris collman 10:45, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
Chris, I added a tip to that section, qualifying it in a way that suggests that it may not apply in all cases based on your comments. Feel free to edit it or move it elsewhere if you think that is appropriate. --Gary Anderson 11:34, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Great. Thanks for your contributions to MoodleDocs! --Chris collman 10:53, 12 March 2009 (UTC)
