I could not find a place that listed the blocks that were only available to administrators. Administrative blocks are not something I deal with on a regular basis. I believe there should be a page called "Blocks (administrator)" and my recent sub heading should be found on that page. However, I believe that those more familiar with the administrator and developer portions of MoodleDocs should make that decision.--Chris collman 06:21, 24 October 2007 (CDT)

Administrator's block list

This is hard to present because admins share some of their blocks with teachers, which I discovered when I logged in as Admin and then as Teacher on demo.moodle. I have not touched sticky blocks. Some Admin blocks apparently have no documentation in MoodleDocs.

Using demo.moodle , I first created a list of blocks in Blocks (teacher) that were found in a course for Teachers from the Add Block block. Then I did the same for the administrator on the site page. I may have missed a few administrative blocks, since I used the pull down menus and don't know all the contextual rules for this type.

My apologies but it is a start. And yes I am very pleased with the format job using a table <grin>. --Chris collman 06:21, 24 October 2007 (CDT)

Hi Chris, re. Blocks administration, please note that it is linked from Administration > Modules > Blocks i.e. it should provide documentation on blocks administration (instances, hide/show, multiple, delete, settings). I don't think there is any need for the page to provide a list of blocks available for administrators, or for a new page to be created, since the page Category:Block provides a list of all blocks. --Helen Foster 02:54, 25 October 2007 (CDT)
Hi Helen, Thanks for the reminder. I think we had this discussion before and I could not find a reference to it. I suspected I was stuck in an old logic trap :) We shout about context, so while a rose is a rose, location and role determines what the user sees. Best --Chris collman 06:16, 25 October 2007 (CDT)

Aren't most of the "administrator blocks" listed here just regular blocks?

Am I missing something, but I believe blocks like "Blog Menu", "Blog Tags", "Recent Activity", "Search Forums" etc. are just regular blocks, available to all teachers in Moodle? --Samuli Karevaara 19:44, 20 January 2009 (CST)

I just read the note by Helen in the above topic. I never went in and deleted the list of blocks, which she thinks is excessive. Ooops. I guess I will read it again and delete it because I suspect Samuli and Helen are probably right. Thanks--Chris collman 13:01, 21 January 2009 (CST)

Version 1.9 has Sticky blocks listed under Modules>Blocks

The reference to the change in location is listed under Appearance>Sticky blocks Sticky_blocks. I looked for Sticky blocks in this article first because we had learned that Sticky blocks were located under Modules>Blocks during our Moodle 200 course.--John Purdin 17:17, 1 March 2009 (CST)
