Databases and Moodle

When talking about Moodle and databases there are actually two different kind of things which can be meant:

1. the Moodle activity named Database
2. the database on your server where Moodle stores all its content

Moodle database

• Development:Database Schema - The files available here are in DBDesigner 4 format. DBDesigner 4 is a schema drawing program released under GPL.

XMLDB

XMLDB stores the database definition in an XML format that can be used to install Moodle on any database.
