Strategy 1: Items weighted by their point values
I would call this Strategy "Unweighted" since the weight of each item is 1. I guess this is what Moodle means by "simple weighted"
No Item Weight setting for categories
In my Moodle 1.9.2 I can see no Item Weight setting for grade categories (it's mentioned in the tutorial). But there is an item called Aggregation coefficient. Are these two identical?

At the risk of oversimplification, wouldn't it be more reader-friendly to simplify the headings down to something like...
1. Point-based grades 2. Item-based grades 3. Category-based grades
